Air Fryer Chicken Legs Recipe

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Legs:

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions

Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Set the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and preheat for about 5 minutes.

Prepare the Chicken Legs

  • Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. This ensures the skin will be crispy.

Season the Chicken

  • In a large bowl, drizzle the chicken legs with olive oil and toss to coat.
  • Mix the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, dried thyme, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the chicken legs, rubbing it in to ensure all sides are coated.

Arrange in the Air Fryer

  • Place the seasoned chicken legs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket to allow for even cooking.

Cook the Chicken Legs

  • Air fry for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking. The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Check for Doneness

  • Use a meat thermometer to check that the chicken has reached the proper internal temperature.

Rest the Chicken

  • Let the chicken legs rest for 5 minutes before serving. This helps retain the juices.

Serve

  • Enjoy your Air Fryer Chicken Legs warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
