Beef and Broccoli Recipe

Ingredients

Scale

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef

  • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
  • Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare other ingredients.

Prepare the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, and sesame oil.
  • Set aside for later use in the stir-fry.

Blanch the Broccoli

  • In a pot of boiling water, add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.

Cook the Beef

  • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  • Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Sauté Garlic and Ginger

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients

  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet and add the blanched broccoli.
  • Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Serve

  • Serve the Beef and Broccoli hot over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
