For the Caramel Drizzle:

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

Prepare the Cookie Dough

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients into Wet: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  3. Fold in Apples: Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped nuts (if using).

Bake the Cookies

  1. Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake the Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Cool and Drizzle

  1. Cool the Cookies: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Drizzle with Caramel: Once cooled, drizzle the cookies with caramel sauce and sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
