  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 green chili, chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

For Assembly:

  • 4 slices of bread (your choice: whole wheat, sourdough, etc.)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • Butter (for spreading on toast)

Instructions

Prepare the Masala Base

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

Sauté the Aromatics

  • Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chili. Cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add the Spices

  • Stir in the garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder (if using), and salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes to toast the spices.

Incorporate the Baked Beans

  • Add the baked beans to the skillet. Stir well to combine with the masala base and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until heated through.

Toast the Bread

  • While the beans are simmering, toast the bread slices until golden and crispy. Spread a thin layer of butter on each slice.

Assemble the Toast

  • Divide the cheesy masala beans evenly over the toasted bread. Top with shredded cheese, allowing it to melt slightly.

Garnish and Serve

  • Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving. Enjoy your Cheesy Masala Beans on Toast warm!
