Cheesy Pesto Mozzarella Rolls

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (13.8 oz) can refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup pesto sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Roll Out the Dough:
    • Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12×8 inches. If using homemade dough, stretch it evenly into a similar shape.
  • Spread the Pesto:
    • Spread the pesto sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Add Cheese:
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the pesto layer, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Roll the Dough:
    • Starting from the long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal the dough.
    • Slice the log into 1-inch thick rolls and place them cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Brush with Olive Oil and Season:
    • Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil. Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper for extra flavor.
  • Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  • Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped basil, if desired, and serve warm.
