1 package of pre-made pizza dough (or homemade dough if preferred)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for tree decoration)
12–16 slices of pepperoni (for the tree “decorations”)
1/4 cup green bell pepper or spinach (for tree garland)
1 egg (for brushing the dough)
1 tablespoon olive oil (for drizzling)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
Shape the Tree: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large, triangle shape to resemble a Christmas tree. Make sure the base of the tree is wide enough to accommodate the toppings.
Brush the Dough: Brush the edges of the dough lightly with olive oil for a golden, crispy finish.
Assemble the Pizza:
Add the Sauce: Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the pizza dough, leaving the edges clear to form the crust.
Top with Cheese: Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.
Arrange the Toppings: Place the pepperoni slices in a pattern that mimics Christmas tree ornaments. Arrange the chopped basil or spinach as garland along the tree shape.
Create the Tree Trunk: Place additional toppings like small slices of pepperoni or even green bell pepper at the base of the pizza to form the trunk of the tree.
Bake the Pizza:
Bake: Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
Brush with Oil: Once the pizza is baked, brush the crust with a little olive oil to give it a nice shine and extra flavor.
Serve the Pizza:
Slice and Serve: Once the pizza has cooled slightly, slice it into wedges and serve immediately. Enjoy this festive and fun holiday treat!
