For the Pancakes:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray or butter (for greasing the pan)
For Decorating:
- Chocolate syrup (for the spider legs)
- Mini chocolate chips (for the eyes)
- Whipped cream (for optional cobweb effect)
- Fruit slices (optional) for extra decoration
- Prepare the Pancake Batter:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; some lumps are fine.
- Heat the Pan:
- Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with cooking spray or butter.
- Cook the Pancakes:
- Pour about 1/4 cup of pancake batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and keep warm while cooking the remaining pancakes.
- Assemble the Spider Pancakes:
- Place one pancake in the center of the plate to be the spider’s body.
- Using chocolate syrup, carefully draw 8 spider legs extending out from the sides of the pancake.
- Add two mini chocolate chips near the top of the pancake to create the spider’s eyes. You can add a small dot of syrup or whipped cream beneath the chocolate chips to help them stick if needed.
- Optional Cobweb Effect:
- To make the plate extra spooky, drizzle whipped cream in a circular motion around the pancake to resemble a spider’s web.
- Serve:
- Serve your Creepy-Cute Spider Pancakes warm with additional syrup, fruit slices, or whipped cream for extra fun.
