Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade, whichever you prefer)
  • Flour for dusting (to keep things from getting sticky!)

For the Toppings

  • ½ cup pizza sauce (or your favorite marinara)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (because what’s pizza without lots of cheese?)
  • 8 black olives (cut into small pieces for ghost eyes)
  • Fresh basil (optional, but adds a lovely pop of green)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

First things first, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). You want it nice and hot so those little pizzas get a perfectly crispy crust.

Step 2: Prepare the Dough

Now, roll out your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. This part is always fun because you get to play with the dough! Roll it out to about ¼ inch thick. Once that’s done, grab your ghost-shaped cookie cutter (or, if you’re like me and don’t always have one handy, you can use a knife to cut out ghost shapes by hand—it’s actually pretty fun to freehand these little guys!).

Tip: If you don’t have a ghost cookie cutter, you can use a simple round one and pinch the dough at the bottom to make a ghost-like shape. Trust me, they’ll still turn out adorable!

Step 3: Add the Sauce

Place your ghost-shaped dough pieces onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Now, it’s time to add the sauce! Spoon a bit of pizza sauce onto each dough ghost and spread it out, leaving a little room around the edges for a crispy crust.

Step 4: Sprinkle the Cheese

Next comes the best part—the cheese! Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the sauce, covering each ghost evenly. Don’t worry about being too precise here; a little extra cheese never hurt anyone, right?

Step 5: Create the Ghost Faces

Here’s where the magic happens! Use your black olive pieces to create eyes and a little mouth for each ghost. You’ll be amazed at how a couple of olive slices can bring these spooky pizzas to life. If you want to add a bit of extra flair, pop some fresh basil around the edges of your baking sheet. It’s not necessary, but it gives a little color and fresh flavor.

Step 6: Bake

Pop the sheet into your preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden. Keep an eye on them—you want them to be just crispy enough without overcooking.

Step 7: Serve!

Once out of the oven, let your mini ghost pizzas cool for a minute or two before serving. Trust me, these will disappear as quickly as you made them! They’re the perfect size for little hands and make for great finger food at any Halloween event.
