Ingredients

Scale

Gather these ingredients to make your Shrimp Lettuce Wraps:

  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 8 large lettuce leaves (e.g., butter lettuce or romaine)
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • ½ cup red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup cucumber, julienned
  • ¼ cup green onions, chopped
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp:

  1. Marinate the Shrimp: In a bowl, toss the shrimp with soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and lime juice. Let it marinate for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Heat the Pan: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the Lettuce Wraps:

  1. Wash and Dry Lettuce: Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry with a clean towel to ensure they’re crisp and ready to hold the fillings.
  2. Prepare the Veggies: Julienne the carrots, cucumber, and red bell pepper for easy assembly.

Assemble the Wraps:

  1. Layer the Ingredients: Lay a lettuce leaf flat and spoon a few cooked shrimp onto the center.
  2. Add Toppings: Add the julienned vegetables, green onions, and cilantro over the shrimp. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
  3. Drizzle with Sauce (Optional): For extra flavor, drizzle your favorite sauce, such as spicy mayo or hoisin, over the assembled wraps.

Serve Immediately:

  1. Fold and Enjoy: Fold the lettuce around the shrimp and veggies like a taco and serve immediately for the freshest taste.
