Spooky Mummy & Spider Rice Krispies Treats

- 6 cups crispy rice cereal
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons butter
- White chocolate or candy melts (for mummy decorations)
- Chocolate chips or chocolate candy melts (for spider decorations)
- Candy eyes (for mummies and spiders)
- Black licorice or pretzels (for spider legs)
- Cooking spray or butter (for greasing)
- Prepare the Rice Krispies Treats:
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the crispy rice cereal until well coated.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Use a spatula or wax paper to press the mixture evenly into the dish. Let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- Cut into Shapes:
- Once cooled, cut the Rice Krispies treats into rectangles for mummies and circles (use a round cookie cutter or the rim of a glass) for spiders.
- Decorate the Mummies:
- Melt the white chocolate or candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until fully melted and smooth.
- Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the rectangular Rice Krispies treats in a crisscross pattern to resemble mummy bandages.
- Place two candy eyes on each mummy before the chocolate hardens.
- Decorate the Spiders:
- Melt the chocolate chips or chocolate candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted.
- Dip or spread the chocolate over the circular Rice Krispies treats to cover them completely.
- Place two candy eyes near the top of each spider.
- Cut the black licorice or pretzels into small pieces and attach them to the sides of the spider as legs by pressing them into the sides before the chocolate sets.
- Let the Decorations Set:
- Allow the decorated Rice Krispies treats to sit at room temperature until the chocolate and candy melt harden.
- Serve and Enjoy:
