1 large French bread loaf (cut in half lengthwise)
2 cups fresh mushrooms (sliced; use a mix of your favorites, like button, cremini, or shiitake)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Black olives (sliced, for decoration)
For the Spooky Decorations
1 small cookie cutter (bat or ghost shape)
Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare the Mushroom Topping
Sauté the Mushrooms: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Sauté until the mushrooms are tender and the moisture has evaporated, about 5-7 minutes.
Assemble the Pizza
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Prepare the Bread: Place the halved French bread loaf on a baking sheet, cut side up.
Add the Mushroom Mixture: Evenly distribute the sautéed mushroom mixture over each half of the bread.
Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese generously over the mushroom topping.
Create Spooky Shapes
Cut the Olive Shapes: Use the small cookie cutter to cut out bat or ghost shapes from the black olives.
Decorate the Pizza: Arrange the olive shapes on top of the cheese to create spooky designs.
Bake the Pizza
Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
Serve
Slice and Garnish: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then slice into pieces. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if desired.
