Ingredients

Scale

For the Stuffed French Toast:

  • 8 slices thick-cut bread (such as challah or brioche)
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling

  1. Mix Cream Cheese: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  2. Fold in Strawberries: Gently fold in the sliced strawberries, making sure they are evenly distributed in the cream cheese mixture.

Assemble the French Toast

  1. Prepare Bread: Take two slices of bread and spread a generous amount of the cream cheese filling on one slice, topping it with another slice to create a sandwich.
  2. Repeat: Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices until you have four stuffed sandwiches.

Prepare the Egg Mixture

  1. Whisk Eggs and Milk: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and cinnamon until well combined.

Cook the French Toast

  1. Heat Skillet: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Dip Sandwiches: Dip each stuffed sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated.
  3. Cook Sandwiches: Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Serve

  1. Plate and Garnish: Remove the French toast from the skillet and place on plates. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
  2. Add Toppings: Serve with additional sliced strawberries and maple syrup for drizzling.
