Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder

For the Chocolate Dip:

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Optional for Decorating:

  • Sprinkles or edible glitter
  • White chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

Make the Brownie Batter:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add in the eggs, one at a time, whisking after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Fold Dry into Wet Ingredients: Slowly fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until fully combined. The batter will be thick.
  5. Bake the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it into an even layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few crumbs attached. Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Shape the Brownies into Hearts:

  1. Cut into Hearts: Once the brownies have completely cooled, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out brownie hearts. If you don’t have a heart-shaped cutter, you can also use a regular square or round cookie cutter for a different shape.

Prepare the Chocolate Dip:

  1. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Add the vanilla extract, if desired, and stir to combine.

Dip the Brownie Hearts:

  1. Dip the Brownies: Dip each brownie heart into the melted chocolate, covering half or the entire heart depending on your preference. Let the excess chocolate drip off.
  2. Decorate: If you wish, sprinkle the dipped chocolate with colorful sprinkles or edible glitter for a festive touch.

Cool and Serve:

  1. Cool the Dipped Brownies: Place the dipped brownie hearts on a piece of parchment paper and let them cool for about 30 minutes, or until the chocolate has set completely.
  2. Serve and Enjoy: Once the chocolate is hardened, your Chocolate Dipped Brownie Hearts are ready to enjoy! Serve them as a romantic treat or wrap them up for a special gift.
