Ingredients

Scale

For French Onion Beef Sliders, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 slider buns
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Fresh thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions:

  1. Heat the Olive Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Cook the Onions: Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add Sugar and Seasonings: Sprinkle the sugar over the onions and continue to cook for an additional 10-12 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are golden and caramelized.
  4. Add Balsamic Vinegar and Worcestershire Sauce: Stir in the balsamic vinegar and Worcestershire sauce, cooking for another 2 minutes to combine. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare the Beef Patties:

  1. Season the Beef: In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (optional) to season the meat.
  2. Form the Patties: Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and form each portion into a patty, slightly larger than the slider buns to account for shrinkage during cooking.
  3. Cook the Patties: Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Assemble the Sliders:

  1. Toast the Buns: Brush the slider buns with melted butter and toast them in a skillet or oven until golden and slightly crispy.
  2. Add Cheese: Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each beef patty during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to melt over the beef.
  3. Build the Sliders: Once the buns are toasted and the cheese is melted, place the cooked beef patties on the bottom half of each slider bun. Top with the caramelized onions, then place the top bun on each slider.

Serve and Enjoy:

  1. Garnish and Serve: Optionally, garnish with fresh thyme for an added burst of flavor. Serve your sliders warm with a side of your favorite dipping sauces or sides.
