Ingredients

Scale

Here’s what you’ll need to make Pull-Apart Pepperoni Cheese Bread:

  • 1 loaf of Italian bread (preferably unsliced)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the Bread: Take the loaf of Italian bread and make horizontal cuts, about 1 inch apart, without slicing all the way through. Then, make vertical cuts, creating a criss-cross pattern, but again, don’t cut all the way through the bottom of the loaf.
  3. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Filling:

  1. Melt the Butter: In a small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stovetop.
  2. Season the Butter: Add the garlic powder, dried oregano, dried basil, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using) to the melted butter. Stir to combine.
  3. Layer the Cheese and Pepperoni: Stuff the sliced bread with shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, and grated Parmesan cheese, making sure to fill in all the nooks and crannies of the bread. Use a spoon to drizzle the seasoned butter over the top of the bread and between the slices.

Bake the Bread:

  1. Bake in the Oven: Cover the bread loosely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  2. Uncover and Bake: After 25 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown, the cheese is fully melted, and the pepperoni is slightly crispy around the edges.

Serve:

  1. Garnish and Serve: Once the bread is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
